From what we can remember, Filipinos started showing their pride on apparel in the late 90's. At first it was pretty cool because it was a new way to express ourselves. But when the majority of designs were only about inside Filipino jokes, spoofs, and just a picture of a Filipino flag, it started to get rejected and stopped being cool real fast.
Throughout the years, this reality has stuck with us. We naturally want to show our pride but become hesitant because of the past. Filipino apparel is still being made today and has gotten a little better, but it's nothing compared to the impact Filipino culture has had around the world. Our influence, reach, and pride has grown substantially and we believe it can be represented a lot better.
That’s why HoyWear was born! We're here to try and fill that void. Our goal is to illustrate our pride onto apparel so that Filipinos would be proud to wear it today, and for other cultures to understand a little bit more of what it's all about.
At the end of the day, we're just your everyday Filipinos trying to contribute to the culture in our own unique way, all while having fun doing it. We’ve put a lot of thought and effort into all of our designs and hope you guys love them as much as we do!
Thanks for visiting our site and see you on the flip side! 🇵🇭😎
